Siam Vows — wedding planning in Thailand

FAQ

answers.

The questions couples ask us most. If yours is not here, write to us and ask it.

Planning

How far in advance should we start planning?
For a wedding of 40 guests or more, eight to twelve months is comfortable. Small ceremonies and elopements can be arranged in a few weeks if the paperwork allows it.
Do we have to visit Thailand before the wedding?
No. Many of our couples arrive a few days before. We send video walkthroughs, photographs and live video calls from every venue we propose.
Which month is best?
It depends on the region. The Andaman coast and the Gulf coast have different wet seasons, so we suggest destinations to fit your dates rather than the other way round.

Money

How do you charge?
A planning fee agreed in advance, set against the scope of the work. Supplier costs are shown to you openly and we do not add hidden mark-ups.
Do you have packages?
No. Every quotation is written for your guest count, venue and priorities. We do publish budget levels so you can see roughly where you sit.

Legal

Does a beach ceremony make us legally married?
No. A ceremony is symbolic. A legal marriage is registered at a district office, and it can be done before or after the ceremony.
Can same-sex couples marry in Thailand?
Yes. The Marriage Equality Act came into force on 23/01/2025. Whether that marriage is recognised in your own country depends on your own country's law.
Do you give legal advice?
No. We explain the process from experience and help with documents and appointments, but we are not lawyers and requirements vary by nationality.

On the day

What happens if it rains?
Every outdoor wedding we plan has a named covered alternative decided before any deposit is paid, with a clear cut-off time for making the call.
Will someone be there who speaks our language?
Yes. A member of our team is on site all day, working in Thai with suppliers and in your language with you and your guests.
Can you handle dietary, mobility or childcare needs?
Yes, and we ask about them early. Halal, vegetarian, allergy, wheelchair access and childcare are planned into the layout, not improvised on the day.
