A realistic planning timeline for a wedding in Thailand

Twelve months out: pick the region and the month before anything else. Weather patterns differ between the Andaman and Gulf coasts, and that single decision removes half of the later problems. Tell your guests the date now.

Nine to twelve months: secure the venue and the accommodation block. Good properties on popular dates go early, and the room block is what protects your guests from paying peak walk-up rates.

Six months: photographer, catering direction, celebrant and the legal route if you are registering in Thailand. Document processing is slow and nothing about it can be rushed at the end.

Three months: menu tasting where possible, floral direction, the run sheet, transport and the rain plan. If the rain plan is not written down with a decision time attached, it does not exist.

Final fortnight: numbers confirmed, seating locked, supplier arrival times issued, and one person other than you holding the schedule. That person is us.

Shorter timelines are workable. We have delivered weddings in eight weeks. What shrinks is choice, not quality.
